been looking over numerous items and post for starting seeds and i know a buddy on his squash uses a solution to break down seed husk for faster germination. i have done a little research this afternoon and hit on a couple interesting things ...one is cellulase which breaks down cellulose to a glucose base and and other bromelain both are organic enzymes the first is from herbavores from stomach and the later is from a bromeliad plant family i am posting a few links here for everyone to check out. and seeing how i have tons of hubbard squash and pie pumkin seeds which should prove similar in character to giant pumpkin seeds i will be doing some side by side test of seeds soaks: in water - cellulase - and bromelain with different times for soaks and solutions soaks to test any difference in germination times. here are a few links http://greenwoodhealth.net/np/cellulase.htm http://home.neo.rr.com/kuska/enzymeuse.htm
