Hi,
My name is Tom Foster and I’m the writers’ researcher here at the Letterman show in New York. I’m writing because next we’re planning a segment on giant vegetables. The idea would be to have people who have grown giant or prize-winning or impressively large vegetables bring them on the show. We’re hoping to do this as a theme week and will hopefully have one person/vegetable on each night of the week. I’ve spoken to a few giant gourd growers here in the States and haven’t found anyone who would be willing to consider coming on the show yet.
Would you have any recommendations of people who grow them and might be interested and available? We’d need photos of the gourds, too, which can be emailed to me at this email address.
Thanks,
Tom Foster Writers' Researcher Late Show with David Letterman 1697 Broadway 14th Floor New York, NY 10019 (O) 212 975 6665 (F) 212 975 4750 [email protected]

What an opportunity! I can't believe that so far, no one is willing to consider this.

I think after Bob's post here and Steve's e-mailing to SNGPG members, there should be lots of volunteers.

I heard of a new world record LG coming out of Wisconsin this year. Maybe that gourd would suffice.

Hey all. He called me yesterday and wanted the large peppers I grew on the show.Alas , I cannot. The peppers have been on display at the State Fair until next monday and I'm sure they have deteriorated by now. Oh well...it was cool anyway...maybe another time.
