Soooo.........I'm in a dilemma. My biggest tomato is hanging out not turning red. It is growing suuuuuper slow. Its probably a bit too wet from the rain and I thought I had turned the water from the automatic timer off but I came home last night from work and it had watered. Seriously???? Common.......ugh. The low fall temperatures I'm pretty sure are playing a role in it also. In face the temperature could be the main driving reason there is almost no growth. As you can see from the forecast it going to stay chilly at night. The Fort Collins (hometown) weighoff is tomorrow (Saturday Oct 8). I have two choices. I can cut the tomato off and take to the weighoff more or less finishing my season. All in all done. My other choice is I can let it stay on the vine for another week. Put some clear plastic over it making a makeshift greenhouse. This should capture the heat of the day and keep it warm at night. If I do this I'm hoping I can get another inch or more of growth. This should put it in line to beat my PB 3.88 I grew earlier this year. The lack of growth the last 5 days has made the chance of breaking the Colorado state record out of reach. This actually makes my choice tougher. What to do. What to do.......
