Nothing has been grown on this spot in 37 years, I turned it with fork and once over with rototiller to break up sods, waiting for soil sample to return its 18 x40 ft nice light soil, I have high hopes for it to grow a nice sized green one

781 Engel x 1610 Lieber at day 10 it has a 2 1/2 inch split in stem its about a 1/4 inch wide and deep but not into fruit yet, this is the one I'm keeping for the 150 contest,if it blows up oh well it's a competition , fruit is still growing nicely

I thought this was the end for the 781 in the 150 patch but it has stopped oozing and looks to be healing over and fruit still growing

The 1538 Jutras on day 30, 240" OTT,we haven't had any rain here since the end of June I have never seen it this dry and hot , I have been hauling 500 gallons of water every other day to 3 plants all my watering is mostly by hand now so I can evenly water better and keep a good eye on my plants

After a month and a half with no rain we get a downpour of 2 inches in one day I cut a dead sunburned leaf off tonite and stem was full of water I am greatfull for the rain finally but I'm afraid there will be some splits for sure

The 1790 Wallace it's the nicest looking pumpkin but the slowest grower , got 2nd rain of the summer today another inch and a half got home from work to find the hole in 781 I thought had healed over was oozing again never a dull moment in this hobby I'm taking this weekend off and going to the lake for the first time this summer and do some fishing

I scraped some more of the bad flesh away last nite and treated with 90 % alcohol on the hole in the 781 ,150 patch and packed with sulphur and alcohol mixed in a paste and it has stopped oozing again and kin still growing 36 lbs in last 2 days I can't believe this thing thing hasn't stopped growing it won't break any records but I have sure learned a lot from this plant, I still have a 3foot by 3foot spot to fill in patch then I will post a overhead picture from front end loader

First day off in a while been busier then a one eyed cat trying to watch 3 mouse holes, I couldn't get the 150 patch completely full its day 66 and measuring 303 OTT and no signs of PM on this plant yet

What a great weekend I got to see Ryan's monster weighed and talk to a lot of the best growers in Canada and my daughter gave birth to our first grand child Lane Daniel Kelly today, life is good and I will close out my diary for this year, I wish each and every one of you all the best , what a great hobby we enjoy !!
